2015 TONE Rendezvous

Would you believe what a great sight it is to see a Bay full to 15 – 20 Tartans assembled at a Tartan Owners Rendezvous. I had that pleasure. TONE held a terrific rendezvous at the Bristol, Rhode Island Yacht Club on July 18, 2015. Some 50 guests attended and enjoyed a sumptuous Lobster and Clam Bake and to hear the latest reorganization news from Tartan Marine. Tim Jackett, COO, informed everyone that he is now back, and in charge of the day to day operations of the Company and explained the history of Tartan Marine since its founding, its financial status and where they see themselves going in to the future. He also showed a wonderful video on the construction of new Tartans and the carbine fiber masts using a Tartan 3700 as an example of their work.

Just before Tim’s presentation, David Cochran, Rendezvous Chairman and former Commodore of the Tartan 34 Classic Association introduced David and Mary Ina Bourdon as new members of TONE and invited David to the front of the audience to make 2 special presentations. One to Tim Jackett for his support of Tartan 34 Classic Sailing and one to David Cochran for his support as our Commodore. Tokens of our appreciation were desk caddies, in the form of a ditty bag containing candy and the burgee to the Tartan 34 Classic Association displayed on the side of the caddy.

TONE members were very warm and welcoming of the TCA34 presence. For 2016, they elected Gary Van Voorhis as their new Commodore. A big thanks goes out to New England Yacht Partners for their outstanding cocktail party and hosting the Sunday morning continental breakfast. Many members of our association are members of TONE and we are in the process of establishing a closer relationship.

It was a great pleasure to represent the Tartan 34 Classic Association.
