2022 T34 Classic Mid-Atlantic Rendezvous 17-18 September
- Report from Dave Watson ("Priority" hull #477)

Six boats were represented at this year’s rendezvous for the Tartan 34 Classic Association. Although focused on the DelMarVa region of the Association, we are occasionally joined by boats from other regions and this year it was our pleasure to host Richard Larivière from Lake Champlain & Eastern Canada region. Richard, a former Commodore of the Association, is singlehanding his boat Indian Summer down the East Coast to Martinique this Fall and was able to join us in Solomons Island for the event.

Weather was beautiful this year, with relatively dry daytime air temperatures in the mid-70’s and clear skies all weekend. Tim Dull, current Association Commodore, was starting his annual Fall Bay cruise from his homeport in Norfolk and elected to do an overnight singlehanded run to Solomons earlier in the week on his boat Skymark to beat a forecasted northerly on Thursday. This breeze was welcome, of course, by the boats sailing south (including Richard) and every one of those, Dave Watson on Priority, Mike and Pat Heilman on Adventure, and Adam Clapsaddle and P.J. Frantzen on Tope, made their way down the bay on Thursday without incident. The Heilman’s and Clapsaddle- Frantzens overnighted in the Little Choptank before coming into Solomon’s on Friday afternoon.

The rendezvous was held, as it has been annually since 2015, at Spring Cove Marina on Back Creek in Solomon’s Island. By Friday night all boats had secured berthing for the weekend and we were joined by David and Mary Ina Bourdon who arrived by car to take lodging at the adjacent Solomons Island Inn. The weather was ideal Friday evening for an informal social, cocktails, and dinner by the marina pool. Saturday’s schedule was open with museum visits, bicycle trips around town and boat tours. We had a short “business meeting” late Saturday afternoon, followed by a group dinner at the Ruddy Duck Brewery & Grill to top things off
